Therapists Jacob Gibson

Jacob Gibson Marriage & Family Therapist, PhD, LMFT

I earned a Ph.D. in Marriage & Family Therapy from Loma Linda University in 2008. From the beginning of my college education, I wanted to work with families, and even more so with the teenagers in the families. I saw my first clients in 2001, and for the last 6½ years, I worked in a local clinic focused on trauma and attachment issues, specifically with kids who are or were, in state custody. We used attachment theory, EMDR, mindfulness & meditation, and other treatments to help families heal. At the beginning of summer 2019, I decided to branch out on my own.

I created South Valley Family Wellness with the vision to connect families with the resources in our community that would best support them as they discover and create the best version of themselves. I am a husband, father, brother, son, friend, and other roles similar to what my clients have. My relationship experiences in these roles help me understand what my clients are going through. And though we are all different, we are also very much alike in our hopes/dreams/fears/strengths/weaknesses/experiences. Through offering mutual respect and value for each other’s experiences and views, we develop trust for each other and the process of therapy.
