Jacob Gibson
Jacob GibsonMarriage & Family Therapist, PhD, LMFT

Jacob Gibson - I earned a B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University in 2000, and an M.S. & Ph.D. in Marriage & Family Therapy from Loma Linda University in 2008. From the beginning of my college education, I wanted to work with families, and even more so with the teenagers in the families. I saw my first clients in 2001, and for the last 2 years have been in private practice, building the foundation of an organization that will serve families in our community for many years to come. I’ve worked with families in community clinics, residential treatment for teens, and now in my own private practice. I’m formally trained in EMDR and IASIS Microcurrent neurofeedback, and practice from a trauma informed, empathetic, meet-the-clients-where-they-are, systemic, CBT based approach. All this education and training is so my clients feel confident in the professional skills that compliment the personal characteristics they’ll sense when working with me. Personal change is real, and is possible for anyone willing to put forth the work.

I am a husband, father, brother, son, friend, and other roles similar to what my clients have. My relationship experiences in these roles help me understand what my clients are going through. And though we are all different, we are also very much alike in our hopes/dreams/fears/strengths/weaknesses/experiences. Through offering mutual respect and value for each other’s experiences and views, we develop trust for each other and the process of therapy.
